Ways to Naturally Lose Weight

Tip # 1

Various fruits and vegetables are rich in natural sources, such as fiber. In their raw, natural state fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens, are the best sources of natural enzymes. Natural enzymes are needed to help stimulate the endocrine glands in the body. Be sure to wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consuming them raw.

Tip # 2

Various foods such as dairy products, eggs, meats, nuts, dried beans, and yogurt are rich in high protein. You want to be able to reduce the amount of fat intake with protein. A great way to remember which meats are higher in protein is the quote, "bigger is not always better." The smallest meat in the food groups will provide a larger amount of proteins, while the largest meat will provide the lowest amount. *Fish, Poultry (chicken), Beef, and Pork* (Since Pork is so high in fat, it provides a lower amount of proteins than Beef.)

Tip # 3

Fruits and vegetables grown all naturally, without hazardous chemicals are good for consumers as well as the ecosystem. You can grow your own selection or purchase them at your local grocers, just look for labels that say Organic. Don't forget to wash vegetables and fruits well before you eat them.

Tip # 4

Rather than frying vegetables you want to steam them. You want to steam them for a short period of time and with the least amount of water. This method will help store the vegetable's natural vitamins. If you are frying the vegetables you want to use Olive oil.

Tip # 5

Too much sugar can slow down the body's metabolism and oftentimes cause diabetes. Reduce or eliminate the use of processed sugars such as fructose, dextrose, sucrose, corn syrup, brown sugar, and powdered sugar. Stevia is a natural sugar substitute created from sugar cane and can be used as an alternative to regular sugar. You want to be sure to stay away from refined sugars.

Tip # 6

Flours and cereals made from whole grains are great sources of protein and vitamins. You want to eliminate the use of products created from bleached white flour, whereas the nourishments the body needs to keep a colon healthy have been removed. Instead of white rice, try eating whole-grain rice.

Tip # 7

Avoid or reduce the consuming foods that contain MSG (monosodium glutamate), which is used as an additive to enhance flavoring. Also eliminate or reduce the use of cold or prepared cured meats, prepackaged bread, ice cream, or already-made pastries.

Tip # 8

Reading ingredients on labels is a great way to help watch what you eat. Ingredients that read "hydrogenated," or "partially hydrogenated," are high in saturated fats. Saturated fats are found in cooking oils such as peanut oil, palm oil, animal fats, and margarine. Fats can build up inside your body and even clog arteries. Avoid reusing any cooking oils when possible. A great method to store used oil is to store it in the refrigerator. Vitamin E helps the body break up fats so that it doesn't clump together. About every two weeks you can open up a Vitamin E caplet and add it to the reused oil stored in the refrigerator.

Tip # 9

Beverages such as coffee, tea, and carbonated soda have caffeine and high fructose corn syrup and should be avoided. Substitute these beverages with decaffeinated coffee or tea, fresh fruit juices, and water. Green Tea is high in antioxidants and is another healthy alternative.

Tip # 10

Different types of fruits and vegetables only grow during certain seasons of the year. When fresh vegetables are unavailable, frozen vegetables can be substituted instead. Since they are frozen with liquid nitrogen, the vegetables are able to store most of their nutrients. Avoid fruits and vegetables stored in cans, they are usually either overcooked or prepared in sugar or salt.

Tip # 11

Reduce the use of regular table salt, which contains sodium chloride. Look for salt substitutes that are high in potassium. For natural salt substitutes, you can use onion, garlic, chive, lemon, lie, or even mushrooms.

Tip # 12

Carbonated beverages, seltzer, or club soda should be eliminated, due to the fact that it takes away from the calcium and other nutrients your body needs. Also avoid going to fast food chains, as the foods are mainly fried in oil and stripped of any nutrients.

Tip # 13

Reduce or eliminate storing leftovers simply by only preparing the amount of food needed for each meal. This method helps from overeating and reheating leftovers can cause loss of essential nutrients.

Tip # 14

Instead of using margarine use unsalted butter, but try to reduce the amount used. Instead of using salts, use fresh herbs and spices.

Tip # 15

Use a non-stick coating spray instead of oil to broil meats.

Tip # 16

Be sure to read the label before purchasing canned fish, you want to make sure it's packed in water and not oil.

Tip # 17

Reduce half of the oil in salad dressings with water or broth.

Tip # 18

Believe it or not sour cream contains more fat than margarine. Substitute sour cream and mayonnaise by using yogurt.

Tip # 19

Instead of using flour or cornstarch to thicken sauces and soups try using pureed vegetables.

Tip # 20

Instead of gravy for various foods, try using bouillon, which comes in chicken or beef flavors.

Tip # 21

Chemicals used to create aluminum can be hazardous to the human body. Avoid using aluminum cookware by using stainless steel products.

Tip # 22

Calcium deficiency can lead to various types of diseases. Calcium supplements could be substituted, but natural calcium from dairy products is better suited.

Tip # 23

To allow proteins to digest properly in the body eat fruits or drink fruit juice either 30 minutes before or after each meal depending on your preference.

Tip # 24

You shouldn't microwave water for cooking foods; boiling water is safer and recommended to remove bacteria and chemicals used to filter water.

Tip # 25

Drinking milk or eating cheeses daily gives you the nutrients needed to help naturally lose weight. However, skim milk and non-processed cheeses are highly recommended.

Tip # 26

Everyone enjoys treating themselves to ice cream. Homemade ice cream is the best way to go since ice cream purchased in stores contains sugar and other unhealthy additives. If you do not have the time or the tools to make your own ice cream you can purchase ice cream alternatives. One popular favorite is Gelato, or look for soy cream with fruit juice. Or you can purchase your favorite flavor of low-fat yogurt and freeze it in the freezer.
